Birth OUT OF Control

I went off my birth control pills 2 weeks ago.

I feel SO MUCH BETTER.

I have been on and off birth control since I was 18 years old.

I have never felt quite right on it.

After Awful and I broke up and I made my pilgrimage home, I went off of it and in a few months, I did feel a bit better, but I didn't connect it.  I was simply in a better place for me emotionally, so everything felt better, birth control or not.

In October, when things started to get serious with Crush, I went back on it.

This time, the change was very clear to me.  I felt like every little thing was setting me off.  My emotions were ALL over the place.  I was picking fights with Crush on a daily basis.  He kept asking me, "is everything alright?" and it was and it wasn't all at the same time.

The birth control elevated my anxiety and I also put on some new pounds...but I am not sure that it was directly related as I was binging a lot and often...but, I was feeling very hungry.  I felt super tired.  I felt like I was viewing life from behind a veil.

A few months ago, Smartie Best Friend mentioned that when she was on birth control, everything upset her and she just didn't feel like herself on it.

LIGHT BULB.

I called my doctor and she explained that sometimes, it takes a few different tries on several different types of birth control to see what works best.  I knew this and didn't feel like taking any for a while, so I ended my pill pack and now I am taking a BC vacay.  I am not seeing Crush until August and condoms are fine for now.....I am so stressed out with everything going on, I don't have any lusty feelings in me anyway.

I think my body just doesn't deal with hormones well.

Anyone else feel this way?

  1. Wait... what did I miss? How come you're not seeing Crush til August?

    1. My summers are SUPER busy with my work...high season and I work weekends. I am getting all of my little ducks in a row and sadly, some of my clients are angry at me as they think I travel too much, so we decided that I won't be visiting until I move in September. Since almost all of my weekends are booked, Crush will be coming out in August to "talk to my Daddy", so I am most excited about that and am clearing my schedule the free weekend I have to celebrate and enjoy him then..we already have baseball tickets for a game!!!! This will be our longest stint not seeing each other....but, I figure it will all be worth it when I get to live there soon!!!

    1. Really? May I ask which one you use? Bodies are so different and I have no patience for trying tons of stuff......even though I know I should!!!!

    2. Of course. I take Yaz. Yes, there are studies out there and class action law suits. But for me the difference is literally life and death. So I have to weigh all of the factors.

  3. It can take a few weeks (months?) to get acclimated to a birth control regimen, during which you're moody and all over the place. I never had the patience for it, and I've never been in a relationship where there was regular sex. Plus, I'm too paranoid about weight gain!

Luckily, there's other means of contraception :)

  4. It takes about 3 months to acclimate to birth control, as in the hormonal changes. I've used multiple kinds, and found that with Yaz, my emotions were CRAZAY. I would get emotional over nothing. The generic for it, Ocella, is my favorite, and its a diuretic, so it shouldn't cause weight gain. At least it didn't for me, which is why I used it to begin with.

It still takes me 3 months to get used to it, emotionally, but I dislike condoms. Not sure if I would get on it again, just because I hate taking anything other than vitamins and an iron supplement. The hippie I am...

The next person I get on BC for, better be the long haul guy.

  5. I never had many issues except for PMS.....As long as I take a micropill but I definitely have friends who stopped taking it because it ran havoc on them.
